The Book (A Poem)

Author | Emmanuel Mack

Backstory | Poetry is a place where I spend time with the Lord in worship. I just pray that this blesses you as much as the Lord blesses me through writing. I wrote this a few days ago, along with a few other poems. It wasn’t much going on; I was just enjoying the peace of mind in the Lord and spending my free time writing to the Lord.

Patience..
Deep breaths, Deep days
Hard work, cheap change
Money low, bank small
Lost a bunch of buddies, man

Miss the taste of honey, man
fame a lie, wealth a scam
lesson learned, not again
We all end up a dead man

Lord bless my hands with Grace
Take over my mind and over my ways
Forgive me for the lustful days
Forgive me for the ugly days
Forgive me for all the bad days
The times I was angry, furious, mad days

The sacrificial lamb
Atonement of sins
A debt I couldnt fathom
A death you chose to take
A debt I could never...

A debt you chose to pay
A debt full of mistakes, murders, money, fame
A debt full of casual sex, hooks, evil ways

Family full of this debt
Sad, I cry out for their names
names to be in the book
book that brings life to souls
book that brings eternal life

book that gives a fruitful home
book that is holy, pure
I'm in this book, I know for sure

Jesus is my Lord and Savior
God in the flesh
He blessed me with His Righteousness
My flesh was a mess
My flesh lustful for sex

In submission to the spirit,
Grace then put the lust to bed
God so good He took a broken man,
Grace then woke him from the dead

Thank you, Jesus, Amen!
